The New York Mets have optioned swing man Logan Verrett to Triple-A Las Vegas and called up righty reliever Erik Goeddel. Assistant GM John Ricco made the announcement and said the team needed a fresh arm for the bullpen. He will be here in time for the game.
Verrett surrendered three homers in yesterday’s loss to the Milwaukee Brewers, including a long ball to opposing pitcher Wily Peralta. He was charged with five runs on four hits and four walks while throwing 87 pitches. His ERA has soared to 4.02.
Goeddel has had a rough go of it at Las Vegas where he has posted a 4.94 ERA, but more concerning is his 1.563 WHIP and 4.9 walk rate. He has allowed 37 baserunners in 23.2 innings pitched.
