Chris Young tossed five scoreless innings tonight as St. Lucie beat Brevard County 4-3. It was his first official minor league game since undergoing May 16, 2011 surgery to repair a torn anterior capsule in his right shoulder.
Young allowed five hits and two walks while striking out four batters.
Young is expected to make 3-4 more minor league starts at a higher level before joining the Mets rotation sometime in June.
Young, 32, made four very solid starts for the Mets last season, posting a 1.88 ERA in 24 innings pitched.
Despite undergoing season ending surgery to repair a torn capsule in his right shoulder, the Mets decided to bring him back and signed him to a minor league deal in March.
