The 2016 Mets minor league season is officially over with the St. Lucie Mets 4-1 loss on Wednesday night to the Bradenton Marauders. St. Lucie entered the game needing to win two straight games to win the best-of three series and move on to the next round.

St. Lucie starter P.J. Conlon had a rare rough outing, giving up two runs in the second inning and one more in the third inning. Conlon went four innings allowing three runs on eight hits, two walks and struck out five.

The Mets offense struggled the entire night to get the big hit they needed going 1 for 13 with runners in scoring position and leaving eight men on base.

Kevin TaylorTomas Nido, and John Mora consecutively singled to start the ninth inning for St. Lucie and bring the tying run to the plate. Luis Guillorme struck out looking for the first out followed by an RBI groundout from Jhoan Urena to get St. Lucie on the board.

Before the game outfielder Champ Stuart was added to the Mets roster to take the place of the injured Kevin Kaczmarski. He came up in the bottom of the 9th inning as the tying run but struck out swinging on a 3-2 pitch to end the St. Lucie Mets season.

Jonathan Johnson and Kevin Taylor each had two hits in the game while David Thompsonwent 1 for 4 with his third double of the series. All-star Tomas Nido finished his season with a 1 for 4 night and threw out the only would-be basestealer.

Lefty Ben Griset threw three scoreless innings of relief to keep the Mets close but closer Corey Taylor allowed the Marauders to score an insurance run off him in the bottom of the eighth. Box Score
