Outside of Binghamton, the Mets minor league offenses played well today, even in games they lost. St. Lucie was the star of the day scoring ten runs while Syracuse had the best pitching performance.
Triple-A
Syracuse (35-35) 6, Norfolk (26-44) 3
Box Score
- CF Nick Morabito: 1-for-3, R, RBI, BB
- 1B Ryan Clifford: 1-for-4, 2B, RBI
- SS Grae Kessinger: 1-for-4, HR, R, RBI
The Syracuse Mets did not lay on the hits with only six hits to three walks, but they regularly came in the clutch leaving only two batters on base. Nick Morabito, Andy Ibanez, Ryan Clifford, Grae Kessinger, and Jackson Cluff all drove in runs. The Syracuse Mets made regular hard contact with the big hit, Grae Kessinger’s home run, coming in at 103.1 miles per hour.
- RHP Xzavion Curry: 7.0 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 7 K
- RHP Adbert Alzolay: 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K (W)
Xzavion Curry had a strong start with seven strikeouts in seven innings. He did not generate a ton of whiffs with a good but not elite 26.2% whiff rate, but he attacked the zone and generated weak contact. His pitches don’t grade well and his velocity is low, but he placed them very well with good sequencing.
Adbert Alzolay got the win going two innings. His 91.9 miles per hour velocity is nowhere near the 95.3 miles per hour he threw in 2023 as the Cubs closer which is a large part of why he no longer generates a high strikeout rate. He seems to be reinventing himself as a contact suppression pitcher getting weak contact out of the zone. Today was the most success he has had with this so far with a 29.4% chase rate and generating three ground balls for half of his outs.
Double-A
New Hampshire (32-30) 4, Binghamton (24-40) 1
Box Score
- 3B Jacob Reimer: 0-for-4
- C Chris Suero: 0-for-3, BB
- 1B JT Schwartz: 2-for-4, HR, 2B, R, RBI
The Binghamton offense continues to struggle with six of the nine hitters in today’s lineup sporting an OPS under .700 and three of them under .600. Jacob Reimer has looked much better of late but today failed to get a hit.
- RHP RJ Gordon: 4.2 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 1 K (L)
- LHP Gabriel Rodriguez: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 K
- RHP Douglas Orellana: 1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
- RHP Garrett Stratton: 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
RJ Gordon ended his start with an 8.41 ERA which tells you how much he has struggled. This was one of his best starts of the season and he could not finish the fifth inning. He did look better under the hood than his results today with a 29% whiff rate.
High-A
Wilmington (29-34) 6, Brooklyn Cyclones (25-38) 4
- SS Mitch Voit: 0-for-3, RBI
- LF John Bay: 0-for-3, RBI, SB
- C Daiverson Gutierrez: 3-for-4, HR, 3 R, RBI
Today was Daiverson Gutierrez’s game. Three hits and a RBI. He has struggled this season but he broke out today.
Mitch Voit did not get a hit, but he has looked much better recently slashing .300/.429/.450/.879 in May. Voit has struggled with injuries this season but seems to be healthy now.
The offense was not enough to make up for the pitching but with six hits and four walks it was an improvement from what we have seen from Brooklyn for most of this year.
- RHP Dakota Hawkins: 4.0 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K
- RHP Tanner Witt: 2.0 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
- RHP Parker Carlson: 1.0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 2 K (L)
- RHP Hoss Brewer: 1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
Dakota Hawkins had a very strong start where he absolutely attacked the zone with a 71.7% strike rate and a 27.6% whiff rate. Hawkins has shuffled through the minor league levels but has looked great in Brooklyn. Tanner Witt on the other hand has shuffled through the various minor league levels and has struggled.

Single-A
St. Lucie (31-33) 10, Daytona (21-43) 2
- SS Elian Peña: 0-for-3, R, 2 BB
- 3B Antonio Jimenez: 2-for-5, R, 2 RBI
- 2B Jeremy Rodriguez: 1-for-4, R, RBI
- CF Trey Snyder: 1-for-4, 2 R, 2 RBI, BB
The St. Lucie lineup showed up in force with ten hits, ten runs, and six walks. Trey Snyder continues to mash and is showing power potential with a 105.3 miles per hour 90% exit velocity (85th percentile) and good contact rates with a 84.6% zone contact rate (73rd percentile). Antonio Jimenez is unfortunately struggling in Single-A after struggling in High-A, and Jeremy Rodriguez is struggling even more than him.

- RHP Zack Mack: 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K (W)

- RHP Caden Wooster: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
Everyone outside of Connor Ware pitched great, giving up no runs and only one hit after the first inning. Across the board their pitchers attacked the zone and limited walks. Zack Mack threw 27 pitches, and every pitch was a slider. He generated weak contact and ran a 50% chase rate. Ernesto Mercedes ran the best whiff rate at 30.8%.
DSL Mets Orange
DSL Giants Black (7-5) 4, DSL Mets Orange (7-5) 1
- SS Cleiner Ramirez: 1-for-5, 2B, R
- CF Jhonael Cuello: 0-for-3, RBI
The Mets second highest international signing bonus this year went to Cleiner Ramirez who has started hot hitting .295 with a .935 OPS. While Wandy Asigen is out with injury Ramirez looks like a strong signing early on.
- RHP Yobanny Sanchez: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 0 K
Today was a bullpen game and six pitchers took the mound today. They struck out eight but also walked eight.
DSL Mets Blue
DSL Colorado (7-5) 8, DSL Mets Blue (5-7) 4
- 1B Jonnhan Sanchez: 1-for-5, R, RBI
- C Frank Moreno: 3-for-5, HR, 2 R, RBI
2026 international signing Jonnhan Sanchez looks great hitting .395 with a 1.136 OPS. Frank Moreno had a strong game with three hits and a home run. While they did not win, the offense got eleven hits and walked twice.
- RHP Sebastian Gomez: 2.2 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 1 K
The pitching struggled giving up eight runs on nine hits and five walks. They did walk seven, but it took four pitchers to get through eight innings.
