The Mets’ top pick in the 2022 MLB draft made his professional debut on a busy Friday of Mets minor league action.

Triple-A: Syracuse Mets (50-65) 11, Charlotte Knights (45-70) 12 Box Score

Syracuse almost overcame a 12-4 deficit with a seven-run eighth inning but ultimately fell a run short in a 12-11 slugfest.

JT Riddle started the comeback attempt with a solo home run in the seventh inning before adding another two RBIs on an eighth-inning double. Khalil Lee also added his 10th home run of the year and his second in three games.

Meanwhile, Dom Smith continued to hit well in Syracuse with another multi-hit game. Smith is now 7-for-13 in his last three contests.

Francisco Alvarez didn’t start but came in as a pinch runner in the eighth inning before striking out in his lone at-bat.

Harol Gonzalez struggled mightily in his Triple-A debut allowing seven runs on seven hits in just 1.1 innings. Adonis Medina settled things down, holding Charlotte to just an unearned run in 2.2 innings while punching out five. However, Alex Claudio would allow four runs in three innings to stall the Syracuse comeback attempt.

Double-A: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (42-69) 4, Richmond Flying Squirrels (54-57) 8 Box Score

The Rumble Ponies scored four runs on nine hits as they fell 8-4 to the Richmond Flying Squirrels.

Ronny Mauricio scored a run and picked up two hits for a second-straight night. Mauricio is off to a good start in the series going 6-for-19 with a double and two home runs.

Oscar Rojas failed to make it through the first inning in his debut with Binghamton allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning. David Griffin allowed two runs on three hits and three walks while logging four strikeouts in 3.1 innings of long relief.

High-A: Hudson Valley Renegades (59-52) 2, Brooklyn Cyclones (56-56) 3 Box Score

Jaylen Palmer scored two of the Cyclones’ three runs in a one-run victory over the Hudson Valley Renegades. The versatile 22-year-old homered in the second inning before walking, stealing second, and scoring on Matt Rudick‘s walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth.

William Lugo added his third double since joining Brooklyn and is now slashing .275/.370/.500 with two home runs in his first 40 at-bats following his promotion from St. Lucie.

Christian Scott allowed two runs in 2.2 innings despite allowing just one hit in his second start with Brooklyn.

Trey McLoughlin was excellent in his High-A debut holding Hudson Valley to two hits and a walk while striking out five over 4.1 innings. Daison Acosta would then earn the win with two hitless innings, striking out three while walking one.

Low-A: St. Lucie Mets (65-46) 2, Lakeland Flying Tigers (54-56) 6 Box Score

St. Lucie scored two runs on five hits in a 6-2 loss to the Lakeland Flying Tigers.

Omar De Los Santos provided all of the Mets’ offense with his 14th home run of the season, a tw0-run shot in the top of the third inning. De Los Santos is 19-for-64 with two home runs so far in August.

Layonel Ovalles allowed four runs in 3.2 innings despite striking out six in a losing effort. Joshua Cornielly and Miguel Alfonseca combined to allow two runs, one earned, over the final 4.1 innings.

Florida Complex League: FCL Astros Orange (24-27) 0, FCL Mets (32-20) 3 Box Score

11th-overall pick Kevin Parada picked up two hits, including a double, in his professional debut. Jacob Reimer, the Mets’ fourth-round pick, also had two hits as he’s now 6-for-16 since debuting in the FCL.

Dominican Summer League: DSL Mets 1 (29-27) 5, DSL Brewers 1 (21-35) 2 Box Score

The Mets scored five runs on nine hits, including a pair of Angel Guerrero doubles, in a 5-2 win over the Brewers DSL squad.

DSL Cubs Red (21-36) 2, DSL Mets 2 (23-31) 3 Box Score 

Willy Fanas stole his eighth base of the season as the Mets scored a run in the sixth and seventh inning to claim the one-run victory.
