Syracuse exploded for 13 runs on 15 hits (six for extra bases) as they won their second straight game over Worcester.

Jake Mangum led the Mets with four hits including a pair of doubles. Mangum is now 15-for-41 since his promotion to Triple-A. Khalil Lee drove in a run on a fourth-inning double before hitting his third home run of the year, a three-run shot in the 5th. Lee is now 13-for-39 since his recall from St. Lucie with a 1.015 OPS.

Dominic Smith went 1-f0r-5 in his first game with Syracuse, driving in two runs.

Montgomery had his best start this season with Syracuse allowing just an unearned run on two hits and three walks over six innings. Montgomery made it through six innings for the first time this season en route to earning his first win. Joe Zanghi and Yennsy Diaz combined for three scoreless innings to close out the victory.

AA: Somerset Patriots (31-17) 7, Binghamton Rumble Ponies (18-30) 2 Box Score

The Rumble Ponies only managed to scratch out two runs on eight hits as they fell to the Somerset Patriots.

Ronny Mauricio got Binghamton on the board in the first inning, driving in Brett Baty with an RBI single. Baty returned from a seven-game stint on the injured list with a pair of hits in four at-bats.

Francisco Alvarez was responsible for the Rumble Ponies’ other run with his ninth home run of the year in the third inning. Alvarez now has five home runs in his last eight games while going 14-for-33 in that span.

Vargas pitched well for Binghamton allowing just a run on four hits and a walk while striking out seven over 5.1 innings. Signed to a minor-league contract in December, Vargas now has a 4.14 ERA with a 1.16 WHIP in 41.1 innings between Brooklyn and Binghamton.

Kevin Gadea took the loss after allowing five runs on two hits (including a three-run home run) and three walks while only recording one out in the eighth inning.

Jordan Yamamoto made his first appearance with Binghamton, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out four in 1.2 scoreless innings.

A+: Game One (Seven Innings) – Brooklyn Cyclones (20-25) 1 vs. Jersey Shore Blue Claws (18-28) 2 Box Score

The Cyclones could only manage four hits as they dropped the first game of a doubleheader to the Blue Claws.

Rowdey Jordan opened the game with a double, Brooklyn’s lone extra-base hit of the game, and would eventually come around to score on a fielder’s choice. Jordan is 10 for his last 28 with two home runs in that span.

Seymour took his second loss with Brooklyn, allowing two runs on six hits over four innings. In his first two starts with the Cyclones Seymour has allowed four earned runs on 10 hits and two walks over nine innings. Daison Acosta pitched two scoreless innings in his first relief appearance of the year.

A+: Game Two (Seven Innings) – Brooklyn Cyclones (21-25) 2 vs. Jersey Shore Blue Claws (18-29) 1 Box Score

The Cyclones turned the tables on the Blue Claws in Game 2 as they salvaged a split of the doubleheader.

Brandon McIlwain led off the second inning with his third triple of the year and would come around to score on a Jose Peroza groundout.  McIlwain would later drive in the Cyclones’ second run with a base hit in the third. The 24-year-old is 4-for-9 to start the month of June after slashing .305/.414/.458 in May.

Santos picked up the win, allowing just a run on four hits over five innings while striking out six. Sammy Tavarez earned his third save in relief, striking out five over two dominant innings. The right-hander has allowed just two earned runs in 13.2 innings this season while striking out 21.
