Tylor Megill gave up one run on two hits and struck out four in a 51-pitch rehab start that lasted 2 2/3 innings tonight at Double-A Binghamton. He surrendered a home run to Zac Veen of the Hartford Yard Goats, a Colorado Rockies affiliate. He threw 35 strikes, walked none, hit a batter and left with Binghamton trailing, 1-0.

“Arm feels good, body feels good,” the right-hander said in the locker room. “Healthy, most important part. But overall it felt good. A little long in the first inning, but after that pretty, pretty good.”

Megill was making his second rehab start since suffering a shoulder injury in his first major-league outing of the season on March 31. The 28-year-old won a spot in the starting rotation in spring training.

He was happy with his ability to control the strike zone with different pitches and said he worked on some back-door cutters, although “one that started outside and went down the middle” was hit for the home run. “Besides that, everything was working really good today.”

He said he expects his next rehab start to be four innings at Triple-A Syracuse and that after two more rehab starts, when he reaches five innings and 80 pitches, he will be ready to rejoin the Mets. He is hoping that happens in about 10 days.

Megill was asked about starting pitcher Christian Scott, a prospect at Syracuse who will make his major-league debut on Saturday.

“Exciting,” he said. “I mean, I’ve heard nothing but great things about him. Met him this year in big-league camp. He’s a great kid, and you know I’m rooting for him. Exciting. He’s been killing it since he’s been here, and yeah, I’m excited to watch him pitch Saturday. So, just wishing the best for him. I hope he goes out and kicks butt.”
