The 32-year-old Ortega made his Mets system debut in style with a big game that included the game-winning hit in the ninth inning. Ortega was recently signed to a minor league deal by the Mets and had 28 doubles and 18 home runs in the big leagues over the previous two seasons for the Cubs. Jonathan Araúz hit his eighth home run of the season for Syracuse.

Scott backed up his impressive first start in Double-A of six innings of one-run ball last week with another gem on Wednesday night. The 6 2/3 innings are a new career-high for s start. The 24-year-old has 47 strikeout to 6 walk ratio this season in 38 1/3 innings and has only allowed 25 hits during that span. Scott is a fastball (mid-90s, top 98 mph), slider, and changeup pitcher.
