noah syndergaard

Noah Syndergaard got his 2nd start of the season and was scoreless through 3 innings but ran into trouble in the 4th when he gave up a 2-run HR to Domingo Santana. Thor left after 3.2 innings because his pitch count was at 82 pitches allowing just the two runs but walked five and struck out five. The good news is Thor had the velocity working tonight never hitting below 96 MPH while hitting 99 MPH multiple times. I will stress that Thor missed sometime with a little forearm discomfort meaning he is still working up his arm strength like he is in spring training.

The Las Vegas offense is happy to be at home, the night after they score 10 and lose they put a 17 spot on the board including 10 runs as they batted around in the 7th inning to win 17-4. Everyone in the lineup had a hit and Matt Reynolds led the way with four(two 2B) to go along with a walk. 2 RBI, 2 SB, and 2 runs scored. Kevin Plawecki and Travis Taijeron each had 5 RBI with Plawecki’s coming on two doubles and Taijeron’s coming on his 2nd and 3rd home runs of the season. Dilson Herrera continued his hot streak from the leadoff spot going 3-5 with two doubles, BB, three runs scored and is now hitting 12-29 over his last 7 games.

Hansel Robles was sensational on the mound pitching two perfect innings striking out four hitters and topped out at 98 MPH on the radar gun. Robles has now thrown 7.2 scoreless innings on the season with ten strikeouts while only allowing one walk and six hits. Jack Leathersich gave up his first two runs of the season but still has not issued a walk and has struck out ten hitters over the five innings. Box Score

Rafael Montero will make his first Vegas start this year at 3:05 ET today. Steven Matz was scheduled to start today and I’m assure if they are pushing him back a day or going to piggyback him with Montero.

Boyd Jayce

Jayce Boyd was up in the bottom of the 9th as the go ahead run but was unable to be the hero for the 2nd straight night as he struck out looking to end the 7-5 Binghamton loss. Boyd was 1-3 with a 2-run double after he entered the game in the 4th inning for T.J. Rivera who got injured legging out a double.

Jared King was back in the leadoff spot (Cecchini got the day off) going 3-5 and Albert Cordero was 2-4 with two doubles and a RBI. Luis Cessa was pulled after 4 scoreless innings because of his high pitch count (84-54 for strikes), he has now thrown 11 shutout frames to start the season.

Vic Black worked around a leadoff double to pitch a scoreless inning but the ballpark radar gun had him topping out at 91 MPH. Domingo Tapia season has a been nightmare to say the least and nothing changed yesterday as he walked four more and allowed four runs to score over 0.2 innings and left with an apparent injury.
