Jeurys Familia will remain the Mets closer after Bobby Parnell and Vic Black return from their rehab stints, reports MMO’s Clayton Collier from Citi Field.

“If Bobby Parnell and Vic Black show up tomorrow, Jeurys Familia will still close,” Terry Collins said in his pre-game media session.

Since taking over as the team’s closer, Familia has gone 5-for-5 in save opportunities and all of them came during the Mets’ current seven-game winning streak.

Familia has a 2.70 ERA and a pristine 0.750 WHIP with an utterly dominating 12.9 strikeout rate per nine innings.

In case you missed it in our Minor League Report, Black pitched a scoreless inning for Double-A Binghamton on Saturday. He’s expected to be activated in about 5-7 days.

Parnell, however, may still be about a week to ten days behind Black as the Mets don’t want to rush him and he’s still trying to build up his velocity and arm strength.
