Albuquerque 8, Las Vegas (55-40) 1

The Las Vegas 51’s offense mirrored the big league club going 0-10 with runners in scoring position stranding 9 runners. Dilson Herrera led the offense going 3-5 with his first triple of the year and scoring the lone run. Herrera extended his hitting streak to 7 games and he has 15 hits over his last 10 games. Despite going 0-3 with a walk T.J. Rivera is still hitting .421 (16-38) with eight runs scored over his last 10 games.

Travis Taijeron went 1-3 with a walk, he has struck out 12 times over his last 7 games. Wilfredo Tovar and Brooks Conrad were each 1-4 on the night. Brandon Allen and Cory Vaughn combined to go 0-8 with six strikeouts but Allen did knock in only run of game with RBI groundout. Vaughn is hitting only .204/.296/.347 this year after struggling to hit .228/.326/.386 last year in for Las Vegas. Jayce Boyd continues to ride pine but picked up a single as a pinch hitter.

Logan Verrett made the start going 5 innings allowing three runs on four hits, a walk, and striking out four. He threw 76 pitches with 50 for strikes and got eight groundball outs compared to three flyball. John Church gave up four runs in the 8th inning including a three-run blast to former National Roger Bernadina. Box Score

Binghamton (50-43) 9, Trenton 4

The Binghamton offense had lots of traffic on the bases collecting 16 hits while walking 8 times, they went 6-20 with runners in scoring position. The offensive star of the night was Gavin Cecchini who went 4-6 with his 7th homerun, four RBI (three of two-out variety) leading the B’Mets to their third straight victory. Here is video of the no-doubter. In his past 10 games Gavin is hitting 17-38 (.447) with 10 walks, 12 runs scored, and 7 RBI with only 2 strikeouts.

L.J. Mazzilli has his own four hit game going 4-6 with his 10th double and 8th RBI while extending his hitting streak to 6 games. Michael Conforto was 2-5 with his third triple, walk, and a run scored. Here is video of the the stand up triple. In 86 games this year Conforto is hitting .302/.375/.493 with 23 doubles, 12 homeruns. 52 RBI, and a 37/60 BB/SO. Brandon Nimmo was 1-3 with with two walks and two runs scored.

Rainy Lara got the win in his return to Binghamton going 7 innings giving up three runs on four hits (2 HR’s) with zero walks and four strikeouts. Akeel Morris pitched around a hit and two-out walk to get a scoreless 8th inning with one strikeouts. Josh Smoker pitched the 9th striking out two hitters but gave up his first run since June 15th. Smoker gave up a leadoff double on that play that Conforto made a great diving effort but the ball came of out of the glove when he hit the ground. Box Score

St. Lucie (48-46) 4, Charlotte 3 

Jeff McNeil came through with the game-winning hit with two outs in the 6th inning knocking in Phillip Evans with a single. McNeil was 3-5 with the RBI and two runs scored, he is still leading the FSL with his .320 average. Stefan Sabol went 3-4 with RBI and a run scored, he has hit safely in 8 out of 10 games with 10 RBI. Dominic Smith was 1-4 with his 54th RBI which is good for third in the FSL.

Jhoan Urena was out of the lineup after leaving the game early in the 5th inning on Saturday. He has played just two games for St. Lucie since returning from injury that saw him miss a month and a half.

Logan Taylor improved his record to 4-7 on the year going 7 innings allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits, two walks, and struck out seven. Over his last three starts Logan has thrown 21 innings giving up three earned runs on 13 hits while striking out 17 in that span.

Mike Hepple pitched a scoreless 8th inning with two strikeouts lowering his ERA to 2.25, with the league hitting a measly .203 against hit. Jeff Walters pitch a scoreless 9th to pick up his 2nd save in three games for the Mets. He allowed a single and walk while getting the final batter of the game to lineout to CF with the tying run on 3rd and winning run on 2nd. Walters now has 5 straight scoreless one inning appearances for St. Lucie. Box Score

Savannah was locked in a scoreless game in the third inning with Charleston before play was suspended. They will finish the game tomorrow followed by the regularly scheduled against Charleston.

Brooklyn (17-11) 7, Vermont 1

Vinny Siena was 3-4 with three runs, walk, 6th stolen base, 6th RBI, and he has now hit reached base safely in 25 of 27 games to start pro career. Michael Bernal was 3-5 with a run scored, 7th double, and two RBI giving him twelve on the season. Hengelbert Rojas was 2-3 with three RBI, he is now 5-9 with four RBI in three games since being promoted from Kingsport. David Thompson was 0-4 with two strikeouts and his average has lowered to .244 after going 4-35 in his last 10 games.

Gaby Almonte improved his record to 3-2 giving up one run in 6.1 innings on five hits and five strikeouts. Carlos Valdez pitched 1.2 perfect innings in relief, striking out one and lowering his season ERA to 0.68. Box Score

Greeneville 7, Kingsport (12-13) 2

Mets 9th rounder Kevin Kaczmarski was 2-4 with a run scored, he is hitting .326 with 11 walks compared to 8 strikeouts. Dash Winningham, Patrick Mazeika, and Ivan Wilson were all 0-3 with a walk. Raphael Ramirez was 1-4 with his 3rd double, has hit safely in 7 of last 10 games but has struck out 21 times over that span. Box Score

Over The Weekend

On Saturday Las Vegas lost on a walk-off throwing error by Zack Thornton, Dillon Gee started the game going 6.1 innings allowing four runs (one earned) while striking out five. T.J. Rivera was 3-5 with his 2nd homerun for the 51’s and scored two runs, now hitting .320/.359/.426 overall this year.

Conforto hit a two-run game-winning homerun in the 6th inning in the Binghamton 3-2 victory on Saturday. Nimmo was 1-4 but his big play of the day was in the 7th inning when he threw out the potential tying run at home plate to preserve the B’Mets lead. Robert Gsellman went 7 innings allowing only two unearned runs on two hits and three walks.

Savannah won 6-3 on Saturday thanks to Wuilmer Becerra who was 2-4 with a RBI, 9th stolen base and Eudor Garica that went 3-4 with his 12th double, run scored, and two RBI. Becerra is hitting .344 (11-32) over his last ten games.

Christian Montgomery was promoted from Brooklyn to Savannah, in 9.2 innnings this year he has struck out 18 hitters while allowing only three hits and two walks.
