The Mets’ early-season injury woes continued early into their final game against the Rays at Tropicana Field as Michael Conforto exited the game in the first inning pulling up lame on his way to first base, followed by Jeff McNeil exiting in the second inning. Both are apparently dealing with “hamstring tightness.”

The turf at the Trop continues to to give teams trouble. It can be a difficult place to play if you’re not used to playing on turf. The Mets’ subway-rival Yankees have also had injury difficulties at Tropicana Field or been forced to give players time off when playing on the turf field.

Jake Hager replaced Conforto in right field. He has never played that position professionally.

Patrick Mazeika continued as the Mets’ DH for the remainder of the game for Jeff McNeil.

We can expect there to be roster moves for more bench players made if Conforto and McNeil end up missing time.

We will keep you up to date as more information becomes available.
