Mets’ manager Luis Rojas gave an update on injured players (Brandon Nimmo, J.D. Davis, Seth Lugo, Carlos Carrasco, Noah Syndergaard, and Jacob deGrom) during his pre-game press conference on Sunday.
Brandon Nimmo
Nimmo was expected to be on the Syracuse Mets’ roster for rehab assignments Friday and Saturday, however it was determined he is not ready to begin action as he is still experiencing pain in the finger. Nimmo will return to the Mets from Syracuse to continue treatment. “He will not take any at-bats or play in any rehab games until he is 100 percent pain-free,” said Rojas.
J.D. Davis
Rojas announced that J.D. Davis’ next step will be to go on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse. He was expected to come off of the injured list this weekend, but the Mets decided to send him on a rehab assignment first. “He still feels a little bit there (pain in the wrist), so it’s going to take maybe a couple days of progression,” said Rojas.
Seth Lugo
Seth Lugo, as Rojas said, is facing batters and is almost ready go on a rehab assignment before joining the team.
Carlos Carrasco
Carlos Carrasco is currently with the Mets. He is participating in strength training with the train and playing catch. He is currently week-to-week.
Noah Syndergaard
Noah Syndergaard has been throwing five inning bullpen sessions. It is likely that he will go on a rehab assignment soon. Rojas said his rehab assignment will probably be with Triple-A Syracuse where he will throw in a handful of games.
Jacob deGrom
Rojas said deGrom could potentially throw a bullpen session on Tuesday. He said that he has gotten positive feedback from deGrom each day. Rojas stated that he does not yet know whether deGrom will come off of the 10-day injured list when he’s eligible, saying the next couple days, including his bullpen session on Tuesday are going to be crucial.
