1986 World Series hero Gary Carter, who is suffering from inoperable malignant brain tumors, went through his first day of radiation treatments this week and we at MMO want to wish him well in his battle against this disease.

Gary’s daughter, Kimmy Bloemers, wrote an entry on her online journal that the treatments are going well and that Gary is going to “take on these next six weeks like they were GAME SIX”.

She says that Gary is “ready and determined” and in good spirits.

Our friends Kerel Cooper of On The Black and Darren Meenan of The 7 Line, are behind a great initiative to Raise Money for the Gary Carter Foundation. You can read more about it by clicking on that link, but I think it’s a great move and I’m proud to help promote this very thoughtful idea from two exceptional die-hard Met fans that do a great job of reppin’ the team and always representing our fan base well.

Please chip in for a good cause and consider buying a T-Shirt to support Gary in his brave battle while at the same time doing something nice for a very good cause.

The shirts are only $25 dollars, but $20 dollars of it is going to the Gary Carter Foundation which is a solid charity. Please click here and buy one if you can. I know times are lean for everyone these days, but if it’s something you can do, it will mean a lot to Gary and his family, and it will also speak volumes about what a great fan base we truly are. Mets fans helping other Mets fans and players… You can’t beat it…

You can also send your prayers and get well wishes to Gary Carter via MLB’s Online Get Well Card for Gary Carter. They have already amassed over 700 get well wishes – Keep ‘Em Coming!

We’re all pulling for you, Kid!
