Onto the next. Ahead of the Mets’ first game with Atlanta, the team designated RHP Yohan Ramírez for assignment. In a corresponding move, they selected the contract of RHP Cole Sulser from Syracuse.

It’s been a brief but storied tenure for Ramírez, who was at the center of the Rhys Hoskins debacle in the opening series with the Brewers. After throwing a pitch behind Hoskins, Ramírez was ejected from the game and handed a three-game suspension, which he appealed. Manager Carlos Mendoza earned a one-game suspension and served his time the following game.

In his three games with the Mets this year, the righty pitched to an 11.81 ERA through five and ⅓ innings of work. He allowed seven runs on nine hits, struck out six and walked four. Ramírez is out of minor league options and must clear waivers for the Mets to retain him in their system.

Sulser joins the Mets after an impressive spring training. He appeared in five games for the club, allowing only one hit in his six innings of work. The right-hander struck out ten batters and walked none. He holds a career 3.87 ERA through 132 innings and is 7-13 with 143 strikeouts.
