The New York Mets selected the contract of RHP Jimmy Yacabonis and recalled RHP José Butto from Triple-A on Saturday, the franchise announced. In corresponding moves, the team DFA’d Dennis Santana and placed Stephen Nogosek on the 15-day IL with a right elbow bone bruise.

A standout in Spring Training, Yacabonis was signed to a minor-league contract this winter. He’s appeared in four games for the Syracuse Mets this season, throwing 4.1 scoreless frames. The right-handed reliever will wear #73.

Butto had a forgettable Major-League debut last season, allowing seven runs to score against the Phillies, in a game where the Mets rode a pair of late home runs from Mark Canha en route to a victory. MMO’s 13th-ranked prospect has made two starts with Syracuse this spring; he’s allowed two runs over 9.2 innings. He will wear #70 and is expected to start a game during the club’s West Coast road trip.

Nogosek appeared in relief of Kodai Senga on Friday night but was forced to leave prematurely after getting struck on the back by a comebacker. The out-of-options reliever was off to a nice start this season, throwing to a 2.84 ERA, despite a .412 BABIP.

Santana was picked up off waivers from the Minnesota Twins in Spring Training.  A 28.6% strikeout percentage was particularly impressive, though it was followed by a 7.11 ERA and a 14.3% BB%. He will have 10 days to either be claimed on waivers or risk being sent to the Mets’ minor-league system.
