Mets rookie left-hander Steven Matz will make a final rehab start with Double-A Binghamton on Monday, the team confirmed on Thursday.

Matz will be activated from the disabled list the following day when rosters expand on September 1.

Making his third rehab start for Double-A Binghamton, Matz tossed six shutout innings on Wednesday, allowing just one hit, walking none and striking out six batters.

It was easily the best start of his rehab assignment for Matz who retired the last 16 batters he faced. The 24-year old lefty threw 56 pitches, 41 of them for strikes.

However the team wanted to have him stretch his arm out to 80 pitches before he rejoins the team and the Mets revert back to a six-man rotation.
