The wait is over. At 6:00 PM on Monday, MLB released its complete 2020 schedule. The Mets will open at home on Friday, July 24 against the Atlanta Braves at 4:10 p.m. ET.

The Mets schedule is difficult to say the least. Through August 6, the Mets opponents played to a .571 winning percentage in 2019 and is the toughest start of any team in the majors. The first five series are against the Braves twice, the Boston Red Sox twice and the Washington Nationals.

As MLB is limiting travel in an effort to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, all teams will be playing a regional schedule in 2020. For example, teams in the NL East will play only in their own division and against AL East teams. This gives NL East teams a very tough road to the playoffs as the AL East is expected to be very competitive.

The playoff format will be the same in 2020 as it was in 2019.
