Uncle Steve is here to save the day! Well, maybe..

Mets fans have been wishing for Steve Cohen to attempt once again to buy the Mets. Well, now it looks like he is. We heard that he did still intend to place a bid and now it looks as though it is going to happen this week.

Sources close to Cohen have told various media outlets, such as The Post, that the hedge fund manager (and Mets fan from childhood) plans to bid on the Mets sometime this week. This timeline makes sense, as July 9th was set for the bid date for the Mets sale… and that is just three days away.

So far, Cohen seems to be the only bidder likely to be able to get close to the number that the Wilpons are seeking for the Mets. But, as we all know, things went down badly earlier this year, so that may have an effect on things. Money does talk, though, and hopefully that rings true here.

Seven groups have been pre-approved for Mets offers. We do not have confirmation yet as to who those seven groups are.

As of right now, Cohen is the only one we have heard of who is planning to make a bid sometime this week. If any of the other groups involved (here’s to looking at you, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez) are going to make a bid too, this will be the week to do so.

Stay seated, Mets fans, and be ready to jump out of your seats at any moment as news regarding the sale of the Mets continues to break.
