With the plethora of injuries the Mets have accrued in the early days of 2017, their options have become limited.

Going into the season with seven potential starters, that number has decreased to three and reinforcements within the organization aren’t there and won’t be any time soon.

According to Chris Cotillo of MLBDailyDish, the Mets were one of four teams to attend Doug Fister‘s showcase on Thursday in California.

Fister, 33, played for the Houston Astros in 2016 and pitched to a 12-13 record with a 4.64 ERA in 32 games started.

Fister’s best season came in 2014 for the Washington Nationals, when the righty went 16-6 with a 2.41 ERA.

In eight big league seasons, Fister has a 77-76 record with a 3.60 ERA and 6.0 K/9.

Fister is easily the most enticing free agent option at this point, in a pool that also includes the likes of Tim Lincecum, Jake Peavy and Jerome Williams.
