Folks, it’s happening.

The New York Mets have held Banner Day in an official capacity just twice since 1996 (in 2012 for the organization’s 50th anniversary and again in 2015), but it will be happening again this year, the team announced. The 2021 edition will be a month-long virtual contest starting on Monday, July 26th at 12p ET.

Fans who have a photo or video submission can send them to Mets.com/BannerDay for consideration and have until August 9th to do so. The organization will reveal the top 20 submissions on August 11th and allow fans to determine a winner by voting between August 12th and 20th. The winner will then be announced on August 26th.

So, what’s exactly at stake here? The winner of this year’s Banner Day contest will receive an autographed baseball by Home Run Derby champion, Pete Alonso, along with a Mets goodie bag, tickets to a 2021 game, and a 2022 private tour of Citi Field…plus tickets to a game next season. In addition to all the official stuff, the Mets are encouraging fans to share their banners on social media by using the hashtag, #MetsBannerDay.
