The Mets announced their Minor League Awards on Tuesday with third baseman Brett Baty named the Minor League Player of the Year and right-hander Dominic Hamel was named Minor League Pitcher of the Year.

Additionally, infielder Jesús Báez and outfielder Dyron Campos were named DSL Complex Players of the Year and right-hander Wilson Esterlin was chosen as the Mets DSL Complex Pitcher of the Year.

Lastly, Collin Hetzler, the Mets Complex hitting coordinator was named Mets Minor League Staff Member of the Year and Yezmin Chalas, coordinator, Dominican Academy’s operations was named DSL Complex Staff Member of the Year.

Baty, 22, hit .315/.410/.533 with 22 doubles, 19 home runs, and 60 RBIs in the minors this season between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Syracuse before his promotion to the majors. The 2019 first rounder would hit a home run in his first plate appearances. The youngster has been on the injured list since late August with a UCL tear in right thumb. Baty is the Mets’ No. 2 prospect according to the MMO Top 30.

Hamel, 23, is only a year removed from being drafted in the third round by the Mets. The right-hander posted a 3.25 ERA, 11.0 K/9, and allowed only 83 hits this season in 119 innings between Low-A St. Lucie and High-A Brooklyn. Hamel ranks No. 14 on our top 30 Mets prospects list.

Baez, 17 hit .242/.341/.403 with nine doubles, seven home runs, and 34 RBIs in 54 games in the DSL during his first pro season. The young infielder has received praise from scouts for his raw power and arm strength. Báez played most shortstop in 2022, but also played five games at second base and four games at third base. He ranks No. 21 on the MMO top 30.

The 21-year-old Campos had a .866 OPS in the DSL before a late-season stateside promotion to the FCL Mets. The 18-year-old Esterlin had a 2.70 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 48 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings this season for the DSL Mets.
