The team announced Wednesday night that it will recall right-handed pitcher Josh Stinson from Double-A Binghamton and purchase the contract of infielder Josh Satin from Triple-A Buffalo prior to Thursday’s game against the Marlins at Citi Field. Neither player has prior Major League experience.
Stinson went 3-7 with a 7.44 ERA during 13 starts at Buffalo this year before being sent to work as a reliever at Binghamton, where he had started the season. At Binghamton, Stinson went 4-3 with six saves and a 3.99 ERA in 27 games this season. A 37th-round pick in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft, the 23-year-old Stinson appeared in two games with the Mets during Spring Training.
A sixth-round pick in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft, Satin also began the year in Binghamton, where he batted .325 with a .424 on-base percentage and a .538 slugging percentage in 94 games. After being promoted to Buffalo, Satin saw his numbers slip to a .312 batting average, a .378 on-base percentage and a more pedestrian .383 slugging percentage. In 141 at-bats at Buffalo, Satin had one home run and 16 RBIs. He is 26 years old.
