Prior to Game 2 of Tuesday night’s split-doubleheader with the Miami Marlins, the New York Mets announced that they have reinstated infielder Luis Guillorme from the injured list.

Guillorme landed on the injured list for the second time this season with a hamstring injury earlier this month. He recently began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse, and was hitting .304 with a .393 on-base percentage.

Guillorme has been a nice asset for the Mets both at the plate and in the field this season. Through 56 games played, he’s hitting .293 with a .406 on-base percentage, and has seen time at second base, shortstop, and third base this season.

While the Mets infield is a bit more crowded now and playing-time may be hard to find, Guillorme is a career .273 hitter coming off the bench.

In a corresponding roster move, infielder Brandon Drury has been optioned back to Triple-A Syracuse.  Drury was one of the hottest Mets at the plate a few weeks ago, but has really cooled off of late. On the season, he’s hitting .277 with a .792 OPS, five doubles, and four homers.

Additionally, RHP Yennsy Diaz has been recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to serve as the Mets’ 27th man for Tuesday night’s doubleheader. Diaz has pitched well in spurts this season at the big league level, and could provide some length behind Trevor Williams if needed.
