As rosters have expanded, the Mets have activated outfielder Brandon Nimmo from the injured list, according to Tim Britton of The Athletic. Nimmo has been out since May 20 with a bulging cervical disc in his neck, and should be a huge boost to a Mets lineup which had been struggling as of late until the last two games.

Nimmo will be available off the bench in Sunday night’s game against the Phillies, and he is expected to start in Monday’s opener against the Nationals according to Deesha Thosar of NY Daily News.

Additionally, the Mets made some September 1 call-ups, with minor leaguers Sam Haggerty, Daniel Zamora, and Tyler Bashlor joining the team from Triple-A Syracuse.

Haggerty, who was acquired along with Walker Lockett in the Kevin Plawecki trade, spent the bulk of the 2019 season with Double-A Binghamton. He batted .259/.370/.356 in 292 plate appearances, while also spending brief stints with Low-A Brooklyn and Triple-A Syracuse. Overall, he batted .271/.376/.387 on the year.

Haggerty is a switch-hitting infielder with speed who could be a solid bench player for the club in the final month of the season. As a corresponding move to make room for him on the 40-man roster, the Mets designated left-handed reliever Donnie Hart for assignment, per Britton.

Zamora has posted a 5.68 ERA in 12 games with the Mets this year, and has posted a 4.20 ERA in 29 games with Triple-A Syracuse.

Bashlor has struggled to a 7.16 ERA with the big club this season, but posted a 3.41 ERA in 33 games for Syracuse.

Britton also announced that Tomas Nido has been activated from the seven-day IL after he suffered a concussion. The Mets will now carry three catchers, with Nido joining Wilson Ramos and Rene Rivera.
