The Mets have made a few moves recently including adding lefty reliever Blake Taylor to the 40-man roster and claiming lefty Stephen Gonsalves off waivers from the Twins.
They also officially activated Yoenis Cespedes, Jacob Rhame, Drew Smith, and Jeff McNeil from the 60-day injured list (simply procedural moves) on Monday.
Zack Wheeler (assuming he declines qualifying offer), Juan Lagares, Todd Frazier, Brad Brach, Luis Avilan, Joe Panik, Donnie Hart, Rajai Davis, and Rene Rivera are all now free agents.
With all of that movement, the Mets 40-man roster currently sits at 37 players.
The next date the Mets have to worry about in terms of a roster deadline is to add Rule 5 eligible players on November 20. Mets minor leaguers that are Rule 5 eligible include SS Andres Gimenez, INF Shervyen Newton, RHP Jordan Humphreys, C Ali Sanchez, LHP Thomas Szapucki, RHP Harol Gonzalez, and RHP Matt Blackham.
Right-handed pitchers Chris Flexen, Jacob Rhame, and Walker Lockett and catcher Tomas Nido are all out of options for the 2020 season. That means they cannot simply be sent to the minor leagues if they don’t make the Opening Day 26-man roster.
