On Sunday evening, MMO’s own Michael Mayer reports SS/CF Jett Williams has been promoted from High-A Brooklyn to Double-A Binghamton. Williams, 19, was rated by MMN as the New York Mets fourth-best prospect (as of Sept. 2023).

So far this season, Williams is slashing .265/.431/.461 with 21 doubles, eight triples, 13 homers, and 53 RBIs. He is 44-for-51 in stolen base attempts.

The promotion comes as High-A Brooklyn lost their season finale to the Wilmington Blue Rocks. With the 6-2 loss, they failed to qualify for the South Atlantic League playoffs.

Williams was 0-for-3 in the game walking twice. Williams has drawn 102 walks so far this season and has a .431 OBP.

With Brooklyn’s playoff dreams ending, Williams joins Binghamton (Double-A) as they are making their own run to the playoffs. Currently, Binghamton is 35-25 trailing the Somerset Patriots by a half-game in the standings.

With the Patriots winning the first half, the Rumble Ponies have already clinched a playoff berth by clinching second place in the division for the second half of the season.

This will be the third affiliate Williams plays for this season. After 79 games with Low-A St. Lucie, he played 36 with Brooklyn.

At the moment, it will be interesting what the plan will be for Williams. He has played 87 games at short and 19 games in center this season.

Since the trade deadline, Luisangel Acuña (MMN’s top prospect) and Jeremiah Jackson (MMN’s 29th prospect) have handled short. Drew Gilbert (MMN’s second ranked prospect) has predominantly played center.

That said, Acuña has played some second, and Jackson has also played second, third, and right. Gilbert has also played some right. In theory, this could present an opportunity for Rumble Ponies manager Reid Brignac to put all four prospects in the lineup.
