MLB: Oakland Athletics at Detroit Tigers

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN has reported on Twitter that teams are starting to check in with outfielder Jonny Gomes. He specified that the Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners and Chicago Cubs have all reached out to Gomes.

The 34-year old Gomes is a career .244/.335/.442 hitter. His splits are what stand out a bit more, producing at a .276/.373/.371 clip against southpaws in 2014 vs .165/.248/.262 against RHP.

Sandy Alderson has indicated interest in acquiring a right-handed hitting outfielder in the case that Michael Cuddyer plays first base against left-handed pitching. Eric Campbell  could make for an internal solution as well.

No reports have indicated that the Mets have shown any interest in Gomes yet. With the Winter Meetings just days away, look for a 4th outfielder and a left-handed reliever to be at the top of the Mets wish list.
