Marcus Stroman announced he’s signed with the Chicago Cubs.

Stroman’s term in New York ends after two and a half years. He was originally brought to Queens in a trade that sent prospects Anthony Kay and Simeon Woods-Richardson to Toronto in the summer of 2019.

He’ll spend at least his next two seasons on the Cubs after signing a three-year, $71 million deal with an opt-out after the second season.

Stroman opted out of the 2020 season due to Covid concerns and returned to the Mets on a one-year $18 million qualifying offer for the 2021 season.

The 30-year-old from Long Island was the Mets’ best pitcher last season, throwing a team and league-high 33 games to a 3.02 ERA and a 10-13 record.

Overall Stroman finishes with a 14-15 record in blue and orange with a 3.21 ERA across 238.2 innings pitched. Known to pitch to contact he still struck out 218 batters.

It’s a late signing right before the lockout begins and a blow to a Mets staff in terms of innings eaters for next season.

“Chicago has always been one of my favorite cities,” Stroman tweeted. “Culture and passion everywhere. Beyond excited to pitch in front one of the best fan bases in all of sports. Thank you to everyone in the city for the warm welcome. I can feel it. Let’s get to work!”

Stroman joins Noah Syndergaard and Aaron Loup as pitchers to leave the Mets this offseason.
