Mets manager Luis Rojas said before Saturday’s game that Francisco Lindor and Javier Baez could be back as soon as Sunday’s game.

“Today is a big day,” Rojas said. The reason for the big day is that Lindor will be taking live batting practice against Noah Syndergaard on Saturday. Whether Lindor returns on Sunday will likely largely depend on how that goes.

As for Baez, Rojas said he doesn’t know if he’s facing live pitching on Saturday. Regardless, Baez could potentially still join Lindor in rejoining the active roster on Sunday.

Despite Lindor’s offensive struggles this year and Baez’s known weaknesses, it would still be an important boost to an offense that desperately needs a lift.
