Here are some interesting comments and insights on a few of our top prospects from Keith Law’s weekly chat on ESPN.com.

bryan green

Kevin (NYC): Dominic Smith has been on fire recently at High-A St. Lucie after a rough start. What are your thoughts on him? Do you think the power will come? Obviously he is young for his level.

Klaw: I never gave up on him. He can hit and he has power. Heck, he’s already doubled his home run total from last season!

Casey Meisner

Gus (Boston): The next wave of Mets prospects seem to all be position players (Conforto, Nimmo, Smith, Rosario). Are there any other pitchers that can contribute to the big league roster in the future?

Klaw: Don’t sleep on Cecchini either. As for arms, Matz is coming fast, Syndergaard is here already and looks great, and Casey Meisner is breaking out this year. It’s a great system.

Cecchini gavin

Joe (NY): Is Gavin Cecchini the future of shortstop for the Mets?

Klaw: Yes

Joe (NY): If Cecchini is their future SS then where does Amed Rosario land 2B or 3B?

Klaw: There’s at least a year, maybe closer to two, between their ETAs, by which point we’ll see what Rosario’s body looks like and if Cecchini is as good as I think he can be.

noah syndergaard

Lenny (Philadelphia): Has Noah Syndergaard been about what you expected thus far?

Klaw: Yes. Impressed by his poise and maturity. I expected some inconsistency – I’ve always thought of him as a guy who makes gradual rather than rapid adjustments, which is fine when the player gets where he needs to be, as Thor has.

desmond Lindsay

Kevin (NYC): Do you agree with the belief of the Mets front office that Desmond Lindsay would have been a first round pick if he did not have the hamstring injuries?

Klaw: I agree he wouldn’t have gotten to their pick if he’d been healthy all spring. Or I guess he could have played poorly enough to fall, but I’ll bet on the former.

Great stuff as always from Law…
