Jose Reyes is out of the lineup for the third game in a row today because of continued soreness in his right calf.Alex Cora will replace Reyes at shortstop once again and will be hitting second in the lineup.

Reyes said that their is still some tightness in his upper right shin and the calf muscle behind it.

He doesn’t know how the injury happened but that it developed just before Wednesday’s game against the Braves at Citi Field. Reyes played in that game but has been held out ever since.

Alex Cora has had limited range at shortstop, but he did make a dazzling catch yesterday when leaped and speared a would be single that might have scored a Giants run.

Reyes did enter the game later on, but looked out of sorts when he pinch hit Friday night in the seventh inning struck out swinging.

Jerry Manuel, spoke to reporters just a short time ago.

“Today, from what I understand, it wasn’t so much tenderness as it was tightness in the calf,” Jerry Manuel said this afternoon. “With that being said, obviously we’ll give him another day and see if that can loosen up on him. Hopefully, he’ll be ready in the next day or so.”
