Adam Rubin is on top of things today and is now reporting that Angel Pagan will be activated from the DL and be in uniform for tonight’s game.
He writes,
Angel Pagan will be in uniform Saturday when the Mets face the Giants, replacing Carlos Delgado (hip impingement) on the active roster, the Daily News has learned.
Pagan had mid-March surgery to remove a bone spur from his right, throwing elbow. He hit .286 with two RBI and threw out two runners while manning center field in three rehab games at Triple-A Buffalo.
Pagan had gotten into a little scrape last month for speeding, but has taken steps to address the matter.
It’s quite shocking that the Mets replaced Delgado’s spot with an outfielder, but that might mean Daniel Murphy will get some time at first base in addition to Fernando Tatis.
Rubin also writes that Nick Evans was dispatched to Port St. Lucie to get himself corrected, then will be redirected to Double-A Binghamton, after hitting .093 in 22 games at Triple-A. Wily Mo Pena has recently experienced calf trouble and has looked underwhelming as a first baseman, while former Astro Mike Lamb is hitting .180 and Ramon Martinez only recently returned from sports hernia surgery, although he is hitting .296 in eight games with the Bisons.
I like Angel Pagan and I’m glad he’s back in the fold.
