Adam Rubin of ESPN NY reports that left handed pitcher John Lannan, who accepted an assignment to Triple-A Las Vegas but never reported after being dumped by the Mets on April 16, has rejoined the organization.

The Mets announced that he has reported to Port St. Lucie, Fla., on Monday to get back into pitching shape.

Lannan last appeared in a game on April 13 at Anaheim, when he was charged with three runs in one inning against the Angels.

Rubin adds that the Mets did not specify the reason for Lannan’s seven-week absence beyond describing it as a personal and family matter.

Lannan was a starter for his first seven major league seasons before joining the Mets. He made the team out of spring training as a reliever and in five appearances with the Mets, he allowed seven runs in four innings.

Mets Notes:

Jeremy Hefner, who underwent Tommy John surgery last year, is scheduled to throw 15 pitches off of a mound in Port St. Lucie on Tuesday.  It will be the first time he has thrown since his last outing in August in Arizona against the Diamondbacks.
