Maddon Joe

Joe Maddon of the Chicago Cubs was named the National League Manager of the Year by the Baseball Writers Association of America.

Maddon left the Tampa Bay Rays to join the Cubs this season and guided them from a 73-89 record in 2014 to a 97-65 record in 2015, a 24 game improvement.

Maddon garnered 18 first place votes, while Cardinals manager Mike Matheny got 9 votes and finished in second place, and the Mets’ Terry Collins came in third with 3 first place tallies.

Collins led the Mets to a 90-72 regular season record in 2015 and helped guide the team to the World Series, where they lost to the Royals in five games.

Collins, 66, had his first winning season as Mets manager after finishing under .500 from 2011-2014, and guided the team to its first World Series since 2000.

He was rewarded with a two-year extension that will keep him as manager of the Mets through the 2017 season.
