New York Mets right-handed pitching prospect Joander Suarez made his Double-A debut last week with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. The 23-year-old tossed six no-hit innings and was named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week, but could he top that on Thursday night?

Suarez certainly did, with seven more no-hit innings for Binghamton. In Game 1 of the Rumble Ponies doubleheader on Thursday night, Suarez pitched a 7-inning no-no. He has allowed only one hit in his last three starts.

It was the fourth individual no-hitter in Binghamton history.

As you can see, Suarez pitched a no-hitter without missing a ton of bats and he did that by inducing 11 ground ball outs. Suarez is typically at 92-96 mph with his four-seamer and averaged 93 mph in his last start. He also throws a curveball, split-change, slider, and sinker.

Suarez had a 5.08 ERA in 21 starts to begin the season for Brooklyn, but that overall number is misleading to how much better he pitched before his promotion to Binghamton. Suarez had a 2.72 ERA and a fantastic 60-strikeout to 10-walk ratio over his last eight starts (43 innings) for Brooklyn.

Suarez was not on my most recent Top 30 Mets prospect list of MLB Pipelines, though he has been in the past before he missed time in 2021 and 2022 due to Tommy John surgery.

Suarez is Rule 5 eligible this offseason and is certainly trying to show the Mets they need to add him to the 40-man roster to protect the Venezuelan from the draft.
