A gutsy 3-0 win over the Dodgers on Saturday evening keeps the Mets in playoff territory – just three games outside of a Wild Card berth.

DeGrom took the mound for New York and the superstar took care of business as usual, tossing seven shutout innings. He didn’t get the decision, but allowed just three hits and struck out eight.

“Those are good hitters over there. They battle you and I was kind of going right after them, trying to get them to put the ball in play,” the righty said, per SNY.

While Los Angeles sits at the top the National League with 96 wins and a +239 run differential, the NL West leaders were no match for Jake. The Dodgers went 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position and were forced into 11 groundouts.

Back-to-back singles from Corey Seager and AJ Pollock got two men on for LA with two outs in the seventh, but deGrom got out of the jam by striking out Gavin Lux to end his evening on the bump. He was lifted for Seth Lugo after tossing 101 pitches through seven.

The reigning NL Cy Young winner leads the league with a 2.20 ERA since May 22, has a 1.69 ERA since the All-Star break. The 31-year-0ld’s 2.61 season ERA ranks third in the NL, and he leads with a 1.01 WHIP, 239 strikeouts, and 6.3 pitcher bWAR.

DeGrom has been one of the driving forces in New York’s second-half run. He’s solidifying a case for back-to-back Cy Young awards, and it showed in his quieting of an extremely potent Dodgers offense.
