The New York Mets ace of the moment, Jacob deGrom dominated the Yankees in Tuesday’s 7-1 victory at Citi Field. Jake had everything going for himself and put on a clinic in the Mets’ victory.

Jacob pitched seven scoreless innings on the night while allowing just four hits. He walked just one batter while striking out eight in a purely dominating performance. Jake picked up the win, improving his record to 7-5 on the season.

“I feel like I’m close [to last year’s form],” deGrom said. “I definitely feel a lot more comfortable on the mound these last few starts, especially these last two, than I did earlier in the year.” (NY Post)

The deGrominator has now gone seven innings or more in five out of his last six starts. It was also his second consecutive start with seven scoreless innings. He has not allowed a run in three of his last four starts. His ERA lowered to 2.41 on the season as his WHIP dipped down to 1.06.

“I would mainly say the last two [starts], I feel like my mechanics are where they need to be,” deGrom said. “I think my front side is finally getting up, and I’m getting on top of the baseball. I’ve got the good down movement. My changeup is a lot better because of that.”

“I threw that pitch a lot tonight. Last year, I feel like that was my second-best pitch, and early this year, whenever I was struggling, I was throwing it and it was flat in the zone, and it was getting hit so I kind of went away from it. Now that I’m back on top of the ball, it’s a lot better.”

Jake has slowly but surely taken over the top spot in this rotation as the season has progressed. Continuing to show he is that steady and dependable force that he always has been despite an off start to his season. Since the All-Star break, deGrom is 2-1 with a 1.69 ERA, only allowing five earned runs in 26.2 innings in that time frame. The deGrominator is back.
