Mets’ GM Brodie Van Wagenen told reporters on Wednesday that J.D. Davis has “no serious damage” in his left shoulder and that he will be examined again in a week as detailed by Mike Puma of the New York Post.

“Not a ton of inflammation and it didn’t really show any new structural damage to his left shoulder,” Van Wagenen said of Davis’ left shoulder MRI.

However, Van Wagenen did say that his MRI showed a previous labrum injury, but made it clear he wasn’t concerned as he noted that type of injury “shows up on guys that have some experience or mileage on them.”

Davis, 26, was removed from Tuesday’s spring training game against the Detroit Tigers after injuring his left shoulder trying to make a diving play at third base.

His 2019 season was the best of his career so far as he registered a .307/.369/.527 slash line to go along with 22 home runs and 57 RBI. That gave him a superb 136 wRC+ and 2.4 fWAR on the year.
