As Jose Reyes goes, so do the Mets.
Lets face it, Reyes hasn’t exactly lit it up with his bat or on the bases this season. But, if you take a closer look you’ll find that his current .336 on-base percentage, matches his career total exactly.
So, while he hasn’t exactly got on base via the hit, he has made up for it a little bit with increased walks.
Aside from the lack of stolen bases which are down considerably, one of the more troubling stats is that his groundball to flyball ratio is the lowest of his career. That means more flyballs which usually translates into more outs and hence the low batting average.
But there is hope…
In the last three games, Jose Reyes has looked a lot like the Reyes of old.
He has 6 hits in 14 at-bats for a .429 batting average…
He has scored 5 runs and driven in 4 and stole 2 bases including third base…
It looks like he’s finally coming around and that could only mean more great news for the New York Mets.
