Beloved Mets broadcaster Howie Rose announced via Twitter that he will miss the remainder of the season as he undergoes surgery for an undisclosed illness.

“Some of you may know that I’ve been dealing with a personal medical issue this season,” Rose tweeted on Monday

“In light of this I will require surgery later this week, so following Wednesday’s game I will have to put this season in the books. Looking forward to starting a new chapter next spring.”

Rose, who missed a week back in April for the same issue, told the New York Post that his prognosis is good and that he hopes to be back in the booth for spring training next year.

Wayne Randazzo is expected to move into Rose’s lead spot, and he will be joined by Eddie Coleman for the rest of the season.

Howie, 67, has been calling Mets games since 1996 and has cemented himself as a legend among Mets fans.

His phrase, “put it in the books” is a staple among the fan base as is his many famous and emphatic home run calls.

Get well soon, Howie, you will be missed.
