Jon Heyman of Fan Rag Sports notes that while Mets manager Terry Collins may not be on the hot seat just yet, that it’s certainly beginning to get lukewarm. Heyman ranks Collins as the number two manager in a list of 14 of those who could lose their jobs this season.

People around the team told Heyman that Alderson doesn’t favor midseason moves, doesn’t mind having someone who goes by gut and personality instead of numbers, if only to counterbalance him, and probably knows Collins is mostly liked in the clubhouse.

After reports by Mike Puma of the New York Post and Joel Sherman pointed out some issues that Mets General Manager Sandy Alderson’s had recently with Collins decisions making, Alderson wants it known that he should be consulted in the future before any similar articles are printed.

The Mets have fallen to 23-29 after losing the last two days to the Milwaukee Brewers. They begin the day 10 games out of first place in the National League East and 8.5 games back of a Wild Card spot.

Despite the Mets holding a 22-27 record with a stockpile of injuries, general manager Sandy Alderson said that he is pleased with manager Terry Collins so far this season.

Reports last week made it seem like Alderson was disenchanted with Collins, but he debunked those notions on Monday.

According to the New York Post, Alderson said that despite the win-loss record, Collins has done a good job.

“I think there are reasons for the record that we have that have nothing to do with Terry,” Alderson said. “I would hope in the future that when people write about my views of Terry that they will actually ask me about my views.”

Collins made light of the situation when talking about dealing with reporters in the Big Apple.

“You take the body blows, that’s what this job is about,” he explained. “I do my ab work every day so that I can get through it.”

So there you have it. If there was any thoughts that Collins may lose his job any time soon, it doesn’t seem likely at this point.
