New York was ready for the Subway Series, but the weather decided that wasn’t going to happen and last night’s Mets vs Yankees game got washed out. Now the Mets and Yankees will play two games in a split double header.

Originally the Mets were going to roll with Jason Vargas for last night’s game but he has now been bumped to the night cap against Paxton. Wheeler will now take on Tanaka to open up the series. Wheeler is 5-3 over 13 games and 84.0 innings with a 4.61 ERA, 3.56 FIP, 1.226 WHIP and 86 ERA+. Wheeler has continued his stretch of games of being average. Up until the third week of May, Wheeler was either terrific or terrible in a start and since then – average. In a now four game stretch he has allowed 13 runs over 28.1 innings leading to a 4.13 ERA from either 3 or 4 runs per game pitching 7.0 innings in each start.
