The New York Mets (17-15) were defeated 3-2 by the Colorado Rockies (20-15) to complete their winless six-game homestand at Citi Field.

Pitching:

Noah Syndergaard got the ball for the Mets. Syndergaard looked good in the first inning but struggled in the second and third innings in particular. Syndergaard gave up a homer to Ian Desmond in the second inning and walked a run with the bases loaded and no-one out in the third.

Something clicked after the walk, though, because Syndergaard got out of the inning without giving up another run. Syndergaard went six innings and to his credit, kept the team in the game despite not having great command. His final line was two earned runs, six hits, and four walks over six innings to go along with five strikeouts.

Jerry Blevins came in for Syndergaard to start the seventh inning. He retired his both batters he faced.

AJ Ramos came in for Blevins to face Nolan Arenado and struck out Arenado. He has also been looking better his last few outings.

Hansel Robles had the eighth inning and got the first two outs (thanks in part to Juan Lagares), but gave up a homer to Ian Desmond, his second of the day, which gave the Rockies a 3-2 lead. Robles pitched a scoreless ninth inning.

Offense:

The Mets scored two in the first inning. Juan Lagares and Yoenis Cespedes each singled to lead off the inning. Asdrubal Cabrera and drove in Lagares on an RBI single followed by a Todd Frazier sacrifice fly to score Yoenis Cespedes.

The Mets only had three base runners from the second inning to the eighth inning.

They got two baserunners in the ninth inning after Wilmer Flores walked and Adrian Gonzalez singled. but Tomas Nido could not get the job done as he struck out against Adam Ottavino to end the game.

On Deck:

Ireland’s own, P.J. Conlon will start for the Mets tomorrow against the Cincinnati Reds who will counter with Homer Bailey in the first of a three-game set. The game will start at 7:10 p.m. tomorrow in Cincinnati and will be aired on SNY.
