MLB Network continued its Top 100 series on Wednesday night. Players 40-21 were revealed during the show, and two more Mets’ veterans found themselves among the players ranked: First baseman Pete Alonso was ranked No. 37, and shortstop Francisco Lindor, ranked No. 25.

That gives the Mets five of the Top 100 Players Right Now, according to MLB Network.

Alonso is coming off of a 2023 season in which he batted .217/.318/.504, with a .822 OPS. He hit 21 doubles, two triples, 46 home runs, had 118 RBIs, walked 65 times, and had 95 runs scored.

Alonso ranked among the top in many categories in 2023. He ranked third in the National League for home runs with 46, second with 118 RBIs and led all of the National League in the 21 times he was hit by a pitch

Alonso is entering into the final year of his Mets’ contract. Mets president David Stearns has pointed out that many times in this situation, the player repped by Scott Boras ends up testing free agency. Though, Stearns noted that both Nimmo and Díaz ended up staying with the Mets.

Lindor, dubbed “Mr. Smile” on his MLB profile, is smiling his way into the No. 25 spot on MLB Network’s Top 100.

The 30-year-old shortstop from Puerto Rico is entering his fourth season as a Met. Last season, Lindor hit .254/.336/.470, with a .806 OPS. He hit 33 doubles, two triples, 31 home runs, had 98 RBIs, walked 66 times, stole 31 bases, and came across the plate for 108 runs scored.

Alonso and Lindor are both veterans and among leaders in the Mets’ clubhouse and are expected to play key roles in the 2024 season. Lindor is among those who arrived at the Mets camp early and is already putting in work to best prepare for 2024.
