Jeurys Familia improved to 16-for-16 in save opportunities on Wednesday, when he got Wilson Ramos to ground out to end the ninth and give the Mets a 2-0 win over the Washington Nationals.

Familia, 26, also set a new franchise record by converting 32 straight regular-season saves, passing Billy Wagner who converted 31 straight save attempts with the Mets during the 2006-2007 seasons.

Since assuming the role of Mets closer, Familia has the second longest active saves-streak in the majors, trailing only Brad Ziegler’s 36 straight with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

This was Familia’s 65th career save as a Met, tying him with Skip Lockwood for ninth all time in franchise history.

Today’s scoreless inning reduces Familia’s ERA to 2.01 for the season to go with a 1.97 FIP and 1.078 WHIP in 23 relief appearances. All hail.
