Are you feeling lucky, punk?

I told you I’d be back with an optimistic post and here it is!

After moaning and groaning my way back to my computer this morning, I went to Mets.com and suddenly all that pent up anger was transformed into warm feelings of joy and sheer happiness.

On the day after the worst regular season loss in team history, the Mets will be sending Fernando Nieve to the mound to face Andy Pettitte.

YES, THAT FERNANDO NIEVE!

I could harly believe my eyes, and suddenly the gloom and doom of the early morning became awash in glowing sunlight.

Nieve who hasn’t pitched since last Wednesday and hasn’t started a big league game since 2006, is the perfect antidote for what ails the Mets.

He is the perfect pitcher to get the job done in the homer dome that is the new Yankee Stadium.

Wait until Mark Teixeira, Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter get a taste of Nieve’s lethal arsenal!

In just 100 major league innings pitched, Nieve has allowed only a miniscule 20 homeruns!

I don’t know about you, but the thought of Nieve pitching today after that brutal choke last night, gives me goosebumps all over. I am so pumped up and all of you should be too. Nieve is very excited too…

“I’m pretty excited to pitch against that team,” Nieve said. “I just have to show what I can do, and do the same thing I’ve been doing in the Minor Leagues.”

Good for you Fernando…

After today’s game, Fernando-Mania will grip the country once again as throngs of fans will fill parks whenever Fernando is on the mound!

Lets Go Mets!
