According to a baseball official, the Mets have finally wrapped up the most pressing need and agreed on a three-year deal worth $36 million with Oliver Perez.
The Mets have waited patiently for Perez, their own free agent, since securing the bullpen help they needed. That meant waiting for Scott Boras, the agent for Perez, to finally give up on finding a team with an offer near the five-year, $60 million he floated as the asking price.
Joel Sherman of the New York Post also reports the same.
The Mets have reached agreement with Oliver Perez on a three-year, $36 million contract that will be finalized when the left-hander passes a physical, The Post has learned.
A few other sites had said the deal included a vesting option for a fourth year, but so far that has not being reported by any mainstream media.

The deal is not expected to be announced officially until later this week, but the two sides have agreed in principal.
Now lets move on to left field and sign either Manny for two, or Dunn or Abreu for one.
