During the 6th inning of tonight’s broadcast, Gary Cohen announced that Dilson Herrera is heading to the 15-day disabled list.
He fractured the tip of his right middle finger on a ground ball during pre-game before Friday night’s game vs. the Brewers. The ball also tore off his fingernail.
Eric Campbell is being called up to replace him, so he will likely play third and Daniel Murphy will move back to second base.
“We shook our heads when they came to us and told us during the game that his finger was broken,” Collins said.
“I just said, ‘Of course it is. The way things have gone for us, we certainly couldn’t have just a fingernail issue, we’ve gotta break his finger.'”
In ten games, Herrera was batting .233/.287/.353 with one home run in 37 plate appearances.
