Mets’ ace Jacob deGrom has jumped ahead of Nationals star Max Scherzer in the latest MLB.com Cy Young poll.

DeGrom, 30, has had a stellar season, but the one thing holding him back in Cy Young discussions was a stat he doesn’t have all that much control over: wins.

The right-hander is currently just 8-8, but has a Major League leading 1.71 ERA to complement a 216 ERA+, 2.07 FIP, 0.971 WHIP, 0.4 HR/9 and a career high 11.1 K/9.

DeGrom collected 20 of 31 votes in the latest poll, while Scherzer took the other 11. This is the second time deGrom has led the poll, with Scherzer taking the other three.

According to MLB, deGrom has allowed three runs or fewer in 23 straight starts, the fifth-longest single-season streak since 1950. He’s the fourth NL pitcher with 200 strikeouts and a sub-2.00 ERA through 25 starts, joining a list that includes Hall of Famers Sandy Koufax (1966) and Pedro Martinez (’97) as well as Clayton Kershaw (2014).
